The Shake from Harlem - The Harlem Shake


Harlem shake. Where do we even begin on this. You perhaps want to learn this because you have seen your favourite rappers do it in videos or perhaps because you want attention at dances or perhaps because your a bboy in training :) What ever the case may be, you have come to the right place.


The Harlem Shake Rules


1. Practise makes perfect
2. Practise should be done everywhere, in front of people (to help you losen up), in front of mirrors.
3. Don't sweat it, and give up. Refer to rule #1


In English / The Explanation

1) For the harlem shake all u do is stick your fore arms out and move them from left to right.

2) Then you take your left shoulder and move it straight up in the air like you was trying to touch your ear.

3) That's when you move your arms to the right.

4) Then you move your right shoulder up in the air like you did with your left shoulder but when you do this with your right shoulders you move your arms to the left.

5) After doing this 3 time in a row that's when you pop.

6) All that is when you throw your left shoulder down and backwards and your right shoulder goes up and forward at the same time.

7) You do this in rythm with the song over and over in a 1&2&3&pop. Thats all it is to the harlem shake.


Tip
: Before you follow our guide above, make sure you stretch your Ribs, Stomach muscles, Neck, Shoulder, Underarm and hips. This is only if you want to be able to go back to your own bed to sleep in after the practise.

Tutorial on an Anon. Shakers Version of the G Dep Shake

1. (start with any arm) place your elbow behind your back so that your forearm is sticking out your palm away from your body and your shoulder should be slightly drawn back.
2. now shake your arms out of that position so that when your one with that your arms end up at your side and then u do the same with your other arm. hint: when your moving your arm makes your your hip is sticking in the direction of the arm u use first. When u shake your arms it will kind of looks like your doing the funky chicken. but be very loose with the shake and in about 2 seconds your when your arm is coming down it should come out then as it comes down it will look like u have a chill and u shiverin' kinda like the shimmy but in your arms well peace!
